Self-confidence in children
A degree of self-confidence is vital for all of us in order to overcome the challenges that we’re faced with in day-to-day life. Low degrees of self-confidence and self-esteem can make school seem like a stressful place, and creates a feeling of ‘not being able to do anything’. There are lots of activities though that children can do to increase their self-confidence. Read on to find out more.
Activities for building confidence in children
Studies suggest that realistic goal setting, positive language, praise and other behavioural changes can increase self-confidence in children [for more information see here]. In addition, extra-curricular activities can help to boost confidence, particularly athletic activities that are free from pressure. Avoid athletic pursuits that place emphasis on ‘winning’ or ‘losing’ and instead, focus on those that stress participation and can either be done alone or with a group - such as martial arts or swimming.

Was a great experience, my 9 year old was a little nervous before we started (even though he can swim 400m), but once in, he was well away I couldn’t keep up with him, adults and children had a blast. Laughed lots, found some muscles this morning I forgot I had! :-) Staff were fab, would definitely go back. Thanks.

Would like to thank the staff at park today, especially Joe, for the patience, understanding and encouragement that they gave our son! Our son was petrified to go into the water and on the inflatables, but despite how busy they were they spent time with him and gave him the confidence to get into the water and make onto the inflatables! Thank you so much, you made his birthday extra special xxxx
