The summer half-term is here, parents and grandparents are looking for things for children to do in Dorset and, (probably) thinking ‘wasn’t it half term just a minute ago’. When it comes to family activities in Dorset there are plenty of choices, we’re very lucky that way! But it becomes much harder to find activities for children in Dorset when the children are of different ages. Don’t despair though! We’re here to help, read on for our top tips on how to entertain children of different ages this half-term.
The sun is coming out to play
On the plus side the sun is making more of an appearance and with a bit of luck it will stick around over the summer half-term. Make the most of the sunshine by getting outside and enjoying everything that the beautiful Dorset countryside has to offer. From beach walks, sea swims to short walks in the countryside there are plenty of activities that children of different ages can enjoy for free.
When it comes to entertaining children of different ages, such as 6 and 10, the parent and child website Scholastic recommends choosing activities in which the older child can help the younger one. Scholastic even provides this print out list for activities that will, hopefully, entertain children of different ages during the summer half-term.
Great for kids aged six to sixty
Dorset Waterpark is a fantastic place to entertain children of different ages this summer half-term. Suitable for ages six to sixty (and beyond) Dorset Waterpark is a huge woodland water park spread over two lakes overlooking Corfe Castle.
Will children of different ages enjoy it?
Dorset Waterpark is open to everyone over the age of six. While we recommend that children under the age of 12 have an adult taking part with them, children over 12 are welcome to enjoy our fantastic water park on their own. We do require that all under 18s have an adult present in the briefing in order to give consent.
Two lakes full of slipping, sliding fun
Dorset Waterpark has two lakes full of inflatable objects for you to slip, slide and splash over and off. Our epic 65 metre action loop features a trampoline, slide, climbers and a flip bag…you’re just going to have to come along to find out what that is. Our second awesome action loop is even bigger at 85 metres - come along and tackle the balance beam, wobble across the wiggle bridge, and slip off the slackline.
Something for hungry kids
After all that fun the kids are bound to be hungry. Luckily we’ve our very own Snack Shack offering hot food and drinks if you would rather bring your own food we’ve got a spectacular picnic area with beautiful views - perfect for relaxing after a brilliant morning on the water.
